President's Message

Hello ACI CNY members, colleagues, and friends:

It’s hard to believe how fast the time is going – we are almost to the end of our presentation season! In case you missed it, our January presentation on Placing and Finishing Ready Mix Concrete Slabs on Grade given by our very own Greg Novitzki was a huge hit! A lot of industry professionals turned out to hear the presentation and came away more knowledgeable and ready to take Greg’s practical tips back to their own job sites. So, on behalf of everyone in attendance, thanks again, Greg!

Our 2/15 presentation on the ACI Repair Code is sure to be interesting as well. Matthew Senecal, PE, of ACI National will be introducing us to ACI 562-16, “Code Requirements for Assessment, Repair, and Rehabilitation of Existing Concrete Structures and Commentary,” the first US code produced specifically for the repair of reinforced concrete. Registration ends on 2/9, so be sure to sign up soon! This presentation also offers 1.0 PDH for those of you who need your continuing education credits.

Once again I’d like to remind you all that the time is NOW to submit your projects for consideration in our Excellence in Concrete and Masonry Award Banquet in April! The deadline for submissions is 2/10. Visit the Awards page for more information, and contact Greg Novitzki for concrete award info and Nick Carparelli for masonry award info. Make sure you save the date for the banquet - 4/5! We hope to have a packed house for NYS DOT Commissioner Matt Driscoll, and we can’t wait to show him all of the outstanding projects that have recently been completed in our area.

We hope to see you soon!
